Continuing cause for concern

SEE THE #MomProject ABOUT TUNISIAN MEDIA INDEPENDENCE

The consolidation of Tunisia’s young democracy has not yet guaranteed full press freedom. In 2018, Tunisian civil society organizations and international NGOs expressed concern about the foot-dragging and shortcomings in the drafting of new legislation for the media. On the other hand, Tunisia’s commitment to the freedom to inform as one of the pillars of its democratic transition was demonstrated in 2018 by its support for the International Declaration on Information and Democracy.
