US urged China to release dissident Liu Xiaobo

08BEIJING4687 The US ambassador called on the Chinese Government to release dissident writer and rights activist Liu Xiaobo and raised concerns about arrest of other dissidents. He was told by his Chinese counterpart that “this issue is a rule of law issue, not a human rights issue” and noted that “the Chinese government does not accept outside interference in China's internal affairs”.
