RSF’s website now available in Portuguese

RSF has created a Portuguese version in order to pursue its international development and to increase the visibility of its advocacy work for those who speak the world’s sixth most used language. As part of its expansion, RSF opened a Rio de Janeiro bureau in 2015 to better respond to the major challenges to freedom of information in Latin America.

“This new website will allow us to enhance the work we have already begun in Brazil, one of our priority countries in the western hemisphere,” said Emmanuel Colombié, the head of RSF’s Latin America bureau. “Our goal is also to make an ever broader public aware of the values we defend and the fight we wage throughout the world to defend media freedom.”

Visitors to website will henceforth be able to read RSF’s press releases about the countries it regards as priorities as well as, of course, Portugal, Brazil, Goa, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Macao.

The most important cross-cutting content that RSF publishes throughout the year – including the Barometer, Round-up, World Press Freedom Index, campaigns and petitions – is already available in Portuguese on the site.
