Pressure in the investigation of Spanish cameraman death in Iraq

Cable 07MADRID911 José Couso, Spanish TV station Tele 5 cameraman, and Reuters cameraman Taras Protsyuk were killed when a US tank opened fire on the Hotel Palestine in April 2003. According to diplomatic cables, Spanish ministers intervened after a Spanish court issued arrest warrants for three soldiers. Spain's Attorney General's office appealed against the measures and the case has since been stalled. Couso's family is considering taking legal action against those who collaborated with US officials to shelve the case.
