While the European Commission’s report on the rule of law in Greece quotes the World Press Freedom Index - where Greece ranks last in the European Union (EU) - it fails to grasp the crisis threatening the right to information in the country.

The current policies in democratic nations to combat foreign interference in the information space are a double-edged sword for press freedom.

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) filed a complaint before the Paris public prosecutor on 23 July 2024 concerning a smear campaign against the NGO, which was uncovered by RSF’s journalistic investigation.

RSF has filed a war crimes complaint with the ICC regarding the deaths of seven Palestinian journalists killed in the Gaza Strip. RSF has urged the ICC prosecutor to investigate all of the deaths of Palestinian journalists killed since 7 October.
