Monoroom.info

An independent Khmer-language news magazine launched in 2005 by Cambodians based in France, Monoroom.info was initially targeted at the diaspora but in 2012 it opened a Phnom Penh bureau and began covering political developments in Cambodia including sensitive subjects such as corruption and state crimes. Regarded as overly critical, the bureau did not escape the government-orchestrated wave of closures of independent media in 2017. Its correspondents nonetheless continued to work clandestinely and to keep their readers in Cambodia informed until the site was blocked on 30 March 2020 as a result of its coverage of the pandemic.
