Mohammed Ibrahim Issa arrested

The human rights lawyer Mohammed Ibrahim Issa was arrested when the security services searched his home in the Damascus suburb of Duma, confiscating his computer and other personal items. The reason for his arrest was not known. Reporters Without Borders also learned that an Internet user was arrested after posting a video on YouTube of a demonstration on 17 February in the Damascus neighbourhood of Harika in which a young man was beaten by police. It showed hundreds of people shouting anti-police slogans and interior minister Said Sammour addressing the crowd.
