Journalist Mohamed Abdel Qader Al-Jassem’s trial postponed again

Detained journalist Mohamed Abdel Qader Al-Jassem’s trial was adjourned again today, this time until 28 June. The judge granted the adjournment in response to a request by the defence, which wants to be able to read the report on Al-Jassem’s health that a court-appointed medical commission submitted on 7 June. The judge had initially refused to allow the defence team to see the report. The journalist’s daughter, Sumayah Al-Jassem, told Reporters Without Borders that the defence fears that the report contains a politically-influenced recommendation that his detention should spent in a hospital. In an article in the newspaper Al-Aan, his wife, Nawal Al-Jarallah, said he would refuse to be detained in a hospital.
