Hamma Hammami arrested at his home

Hamma Hammami, the former editor of the banned newspaper Alternatives and spokesman of the Tunisian Workers Communist party, was arrested at his home. The identity of those who took him away is not known. His arrest came one day after he made a speech, posted on Facebook, calling on President Ben Ali to resign in the face of continuing widespread protests and the lack of any response from the authorities other than repression. He was released two days later.
