A French journalist hit by a bullet

Jean-Marie Lemaire, a French journalist working France 24, sustained a gunshot wound to the calf while covering clashes between rebels and pro-Gaddafi forces in Ben Jawad (less than 100 km east of Sirte). He was treated in a hospital in Benghazi. A France 24 representative told Reporters Without Borders that two shots hit Lemaire’s camera and a third hit his calf. “The fibula was hit but the wound has been stabilized,” he said. “We are in the process of organizing his repatriation.”
