Bomb attack on government radio station

Reporters Without Borders expressed great concern about the explosion of a car bomb today in front of the offices of the state-run Radio Kashmir in Srinagar, capital of the northwestern state of Kashmir. It called on the state's chief minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, to see that an immediate investigation was made by local officials and to publicly disclose the results. The blast and an attempt to storm the station by Muslim rebels killed a policeman and a soldier and three of the rebels. Two Pakistan-based Muslim rebel groups, Al-Madina and Harkat-ul-Mujahedeen, claimed responsibility for the attack.
