Early release for leading journalist follows international campaigns
Leading investigative journalist Jiang Weiping has been freed after receiving a further 12 months' remission
in his eight-year prison sentence for "divulging state secrets." He is in poor health after five years in
prison and hopes to join his wife and daughter, who are now living in exile in Canada. Reporters Without
Borders pays tribute to the campaigns by news media and diplomats which led to his early release.
