“We fight censorship” hackathon

Come to La Cantine in Paris at 2 p.m. on 21 July for a hackathon

Reporters Without Borders has been combating censorship and defending bloggers and netizens for years. In 2010, we launched the first Anti-Censorship Shelter in Paris for journalists, bloggers and dissidents who are refugees in France or just passing through, as a place where they can communicate and surf anonymously. As an extension of this initiative, and adapting our methods to developments in online censorship, we plan to launch a new website in October – wefightcensorship.org Its purpose will be to host censored content – content that has resulted in its creators being physically attacked, jailed, convicted or murdered. A secured online form will make it possible for any Internet user to send us censored or banned files anonymously. We invite computer geeks, hackers and IT experts to come and test the reliability and security of our file transmission system and to offer practical advice for this project’s implementation. Programme: -* 2:15 - 2:45 pm: Overview of the “We fight censorship” project -* 2:45 - 3:15 pm: Technical presentation by Linagora -* 3:15 - 3:45 pm: Feedback from beta testers -* 3:45 pm onwards - Just hack!
