MODO DE PREDAÇÃO: censura, controle total da Internet e ameaças
A tendência repressiva de Emomali Rakhmon, um dos presidentes mais antigos da região, continua a se agravar. O dirigente se apresenta como o “líder da nação” e o “fundador da paz e da unidade nacional” desde o fim da guerra civil na década de 1990. Em 1992, instituiu a censura oficial e sistemática dos conteúdos veiculados pelos meios de comunicação privados e independentes. Em 2021, o Comitê de Televisão e Radiodifusão do Tajiquistão - um órgão estatal - impôs novas condições aos contratos de licença de transmissão, sobretudo obrigando redações a submeter à validação prévia todas as produções editoriais em língua estrangeira, incluindo em russo. Em 2018, as autoridades assumiram o monopólio de acesso à rede national de Internet, permitindo que a agência governamental de telecomunicações bloqueie ilegalmente sites de notícias. O provedor nacional de acesso Tajiktelecom, propriedade do serviço de comunicações do governo tajique, controla a venda de acesso à Internet no país. As autoridades criaram "fábricas de trolls" destinadas a desacreditar todas as vozes críticas e certos meios de comunicação, como a Radio Ozodi, e o serviço tajique da Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty (RFE/RL). Perseguidos pelos serviços secretos, intimidados e submetidos a chantagens, dezenas de jornalistas optaram pelo exílio nos últimos anos. O restante se autocensura e evita abordar temas delicados, favorecendo a impunidade e a corrupção no país.
