Support for exile journalists

Every year, dozens of professional and citizen-journalists flee their countries to escape threats to their safety. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) tries to support them by providing financial and administrative assistance.

RSF follows and supports their asylum applications and their attempts to find a new home. It also tries to help these heroes to forge a new role for themselves after being turned into anonymous refugees by forced departure.

Flight into exile is often the only way for journalists to escape threats from government officials or militias that see them as irritants. Reducing independent journalists to silence or forcing them to flee abroad are increasingly used as repressive methods by the media’s enemies throughout the world.
