Nation News photojournalist Christoff Griffith was killed on June 22 in Bishop’s Court Hill, Saint Michael, after being assigned to report on a murder that took place at the abandoned residence of Barbados’ Anglican bishop. Workers had been excavating the property when a man who was allegedly living on the property killed one of the workers. Griffith arrived at the scene before police and was attacked and killed upon entering the property, allegedly by the same man. The journalist was only 25 years old. Police now have a man in custody who is cooperating in their investigation into his murder.
“RSF is chilled to learn of Christoff Griffith’s murder, which reminds us of the dangers journalists face in the course of their work," said Dokhi Fassihian, Executive Director of RSF’s North America bureau. “His killing must be thoroughly investigated.”
